Hi everyone,
as you might have already noticed 123people is not available this morning. We are improving the speed and quality of the results right now and we’ll be back shortly.
Updates are being posted here; Shouldn’t last too long.
Thanks for your understanding!

Happy Holidays everyone…..thank you for using 123people…..2009 is going to be even better
Terri Wells from SEOChat recently wrote an in depth review on 123people - she explored all corners of the site, pointing out some interesting aspects about the interface and discovering some surprising results.

As previously posted Lukas and myself are representing 123people at LeWeb in Paris. We arrived in Paris late monday night and things have been exciting ever since. We went to the open coffee club on monday, enjoyed a long but exhausting day yesterday at the conference, where it was freezing and the food not enough (RT: Lars Hinrichs from Xing on twitter: “#leweb i dont no what is more difficult: get funding for a company or get decent & enough food at leweb“) , and then we also paid the myspace party a visit. Lukas summed some of the facts up:
Today we listened to some of the speakers, eg Marissa Mayer from Google and Robert Scobles presenting the winning team from the start-up competition, which is Viewdle “a facial recognition powered digital media platform for easily indexing, searching & monetizing video assets”. It’s always nice to me among so many interesting people and get a chance to simply walk over to them and as them whatever you want.
Here’s a photo from the main venue, where the conference took place:

As we continue to grow and reach a global audience, 123people has now launched in the UK.
After our recent successful US launch, reaching the UK market was our next goal. We have put great effort on local business services in the UK to make search results relevant. News sources include; The Telegraph, Times Online, The Guardian and The Sun. Now you can find anyone you want to know on both sides of the Atlantic.

With the internet being the main tool for finding information and people, are those big bulky directories on top of your fridge becoming irrelevant?
According to the Wall Street Journal, YellowPages may be facing extinction as more and more people shift to the internet to place ads and search for businesses and people.
With more people in the US with a social network profile than ever, there is an increase of people with an online web presence, making book directories seem out dated and irrelevant. Since the US launch of 123people.com, the site receives on average 200,000 unique visits per day from users conducting me and you searches, to find emails, weblinks and social network profiles of old-friends and family members.
123people makes life so much easier for you.

As Lukas already blogged a few days ago we’ll be representing 123people at the LeWeb conference in Paris next month. We are now in the midst of the preperations for our LeWeb coverage in Paris and we will be blogging and vlogging live on multiple blogs and in multiple languages.
The blogs where we’ll be covering live are:
123people blog FR (coming soon - as a special incentive for french speaking people ;)) - we actually hired a native speaker
The video was our first try with our HD camera and unfortunately our sound and ambient settings were, well, let’s call it suboptimal, but we will improve our skills in term of video blogging until LeWeb…
Our friends and collegues over at tripwolf (an online travel guide) are giving away several FON wi-fi routers so you don’t have be offline anymore - even when you are travelling.

The idea of the game is simple: the more friends you invite to tripwolf, the higher are your chances of winning one of those routers. Furthermore might those points be used for further games and prizes - so start soon and you might be able to might really big stuff in the future via tripwolf.
There are already two lucky winners and besides that they really have some awesome travel photos in their flickr account - check them out.
As you might have already noticed the bold Badge on the right sidebar of this blog 123people is proud to be part of the LeWeb’s blogger network so we will be blogging LIVE from this amazing conference in Paris on December 9/10.
The LeWeb is organized by Entrepreneuer and Web Enthusiast Loic le Moir, founder of Seesmic, and within years became one of the most influential european Web and Tech Conferences. Not only the extraordinary fine list of Keynote speakers but also the list of Participants contribute to the quality of the conference.
Lukas, a 123people team member and a blogger himself, will be covering the entire conference for 123people and is going to watch out for what people are going to say about the emerging market of people search. What’s new, what’s next and who is to keep an eye on.
